A little over a week ago, a haggard record store clerk was forced to go into the stock room and dig through boxes of new discs to find the final posthumous release by Elliott Smith because the record store had not yet placed the disc on the sales floor and a demanding customer wanted to buy it.  That customer was me.  I have no regrets.

Simply put:  it is a beautiful album.  It is eons better than Figure 8.  It is at least as good as X/O (if it isn't better - but it takes a few listens to realize this fact).  The four song stretch from A Fond Farewell to Twilight cause my bowels to tremble and quake.  And I find myself so hopeful for the direction of Elliott's career, not to mention his life... and then I remember the sad truth of it all.
