I thought Hillary Swank and Cate Blanchett were pretty good winners.

My opinion of Carlos Santana before last night was that he sucks. Now, after his horrific performance, i think it's official beyond my opinion that he indeed sucks.

You're right. He was abysmal. Didn't seem to know what song he was meant to be playing, or why.

In my humble opinion the girl in the Allstate Insurance ad who smiled and said "Just what I needed!" gave a better performance than Hilary Swank. I think she's a horrible actress. I hate to pick on people, but why does that woman keep winning these things? She's now the most highly decorated actress of our generation, and I think her high water mark was The Next Karate Kid. I feel like I'm in bizarro-world.

Because we seem to have sanctioned further bitching about the Oscars, allow me to continue: -Presenting certain awards out in the audience... nothing like a subtle reminder that "Your contribution to the art of motion pictures isn't valuable enough to get you up on the big stage" -The horrible overhead shot used on every award presented on the big stage that allowed us to see that the floor of the stage was made of television screens that were displaying the recipient's name. A floor made of television screens? This is why terrorist's hate us. -One word, three syllables: Beyonce. I hope someone was fired for that.
One more positive though: Did anyone notice that Antonio Banderas was already sweating profusely when his performance with Santana began? And that performance, I mean what says "Latin American melodrama" like Antonio and Carlos mixing it up in front of a fake brick facade. We Tivoed the show and this was the only musical performance we watched all the way through. But, um, I don't remember that song being in the movie...

Things that made me go hmmmmm....
What point was Chris Rock trying to make by comparing the Oscar's to White Chicks?
Or
The 'star' comment: Tom Cruise (star) vs. Jude Law (some actor). Maybe Chris likes a good box office hit?!
I don't think Chris' humor was understood because even Sean Penn made a statement countering Chris Rock.
If he was just trying to shock people, it was a sad attempt. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess I've never gotten Chris Rock's humor so that why I think he did a poor job hosting the show.

But as much as I'd love to love Sean Penn, I must admit that I don't think Sean Penn has a sense of humor. Whatever happened to Fast Times at Ridgemont High?

I guess I've never gotten Chris Rock's humor so that why I think he did a poor job hosting the show. a simple mainstream example of his humour would be the film "Down to Earth". i found that hilarious an i'd say its typical, if less explicit, chris rock.

Not only the nominations a bit... skewey. But the choice from those nominations was ridiculous. There needs to either be a real shake up of the Oscar judges panel, or a new award that tells it how it is need to be about. Million Dollar Baby best film? I can't even remember what happened in the first hour of it.

there is no due thanks to the forum at all, but my friend zooey. He informed me as to what it was sean penn said.
i might venture to say that i'd rather sit in a room listening to senn pean tell jokes or misinterpret them, than to listen to carlos santana try and play with a band. let me correct myself: he doesn't try, he just plays, and it seems, whatever comes into his mind at that time.
Marke, hopefully your ipod likes you enough to never spin the likes of carlos into your needed music.
